Junior Theatre Core Values
Our students engage with characters who are different from themselves. They learn to walk in someone else’s shoes…often literally!
Junior Theatre training fosters creativity, imagination, and independent thinking and helps a young person face life’s challenges and discover themselves and their place in this world.
A young artist’s journey can be full of setbacks, but when disappointments arise, Junior Theatre students learn to recover, move forward, and spring back with flexibility.
Once a Junior Theatre production opens, its success is entirely dependent on young people. If something goes awry during a performance, our students must exercise critical thinking and teamwork skills to ensure the show will “go on.”
Junior Theatre is a unique community where young people connect, collaborate, and learn from people of different ethnicities, genders, ages, social circumstances, and cultural contexts.
Whether it’s onstage, backstage, in the classroom, or in the audience, there’s a good chance that a child’s lifelong appreciation in the arts will begin at San Diego Junior Theatre.
